Shopping in London

Written exclusively for Westfield Magazine in London

Here we are yet again, in the midst of the bitter cold. I am not complaining however, this marvellous time of year stylishly kicks off with the much-awaited London Fashion Week, and enthusiastically concludes with a barrage of Christmas and New Years celebrations. Oh the outfits. Oh the cold… Where does one find the middle ground between looking uber fantabulous whilst thwarting hypothermia from setting in (again)?

At Burberry of course. Cashmere is my go to, I couldn’t possibly survive even the slightest gust of wind without cashmere protection, dear oh dear, us desert girls.  Thankfully, good ol English Burberry just gets more avant-garde and sophisticated with every collection, while keeping us fuzzy warm too, cheers Burbs.  A few cashmere sweaters, the must-have cape and a couple of scarves on the list, fab, what’s next? Why a Burberry trench darling. No wardrobe is complete without one, neither is a single generation. I got my first when I was 4, and I am not about to stop now. Burberry’s new collection boasts a variety of cuts, colours and fabrics in the trench to suit all shapes and sizes; it’s just so hard to ‘choose’ when you want ‘ALL’.

I recently attended a private preview of Louis Vuitton’s latest handbag collection. I entered the room and made a bee-line straight for… RED! The red Capucine MM please. Just imagine how chic an all-black ensemble would look with that pop of colour, plus it just goes so well with the beige trench AND the cape. I am already getting starry-eyed envisaging my glorious winter wardrobe, and we haven’t even discussed shoes yet.

Jimmy Choo is your standard go to for boots bliss, with the Biker being a necessity. Slightly updated this year, the Biker still maintains its practicality with durable leather and woolly inner lining but looks edgy-glam.

The woolly lining makes my heart skip a beat, I can trendily trot around London town; shopping at Westfield, walking from Holland Park to Knightsbridge, and lunching at The Wolseley and George without a worry for comfort or warmth.

Resolving everyday sensibility is such a relief, but what on earth do I wear on a night out? The Dwyer bootie caught my attention, modern and innovative with perfect height, love love love. Cipriani’s here I come.

Aquascutum has gone from strength to strength over the last few years, and I am tempted by their latest little shift, the Betsy. This has to be my favourite sleeve length, and the cut is beautifully flattering. All the dress requires to emerge a la Mayfair-mode is a statement necklace, the perfect opportunity to don Versace’s Icon Charms Double Chain. If eyes could drool. On a more minimal note, Tiffany & Co’s new T collection is rather pleasing, The bar cuff is impressively contemporary, and the T Square bracelets in all metals are both current and timeless. Stack stack stack away.

Why would anyone think London winters were bad, when one looks so painfully good?
