CHANEL SPECIAL: Reincarnation meets Salzburg
This just in! After a healthy dose of hype and anticipation, the latest excitement from the house of Chanel is the fact that Pharrell Williams and Cara Delevingne have joined forces to star in Karl Lagerfeld’s brand new short film, ‘Reincarnation’.
In true Lagerfeld fashion, naturally the creative vision behind luxury label Chanel chose to cast only the finest talent from the worlds of music and film to create his latest masterpiece. Pharrell is known for his way with words and his silky-toned voice, while supermodel Cara is just dipping her toe into both music and film after modelling in some of high fashion’s most prestigious designer campaigns… and what better way to add to your growing acting resume than by starring as an Austrian barmaid in a world-wide Chanel clip?!
Pharrell chose to pen his latest track especially for this film, and the song featured throughout is entitled, ‘CC The World’. Certainly not one of his usual upbeat rap-infused songs, this effort is laced with luxury and has a waltz-tempo to serve the regal concept behind ‘Reincarnation’ perfectly.
‘Reincarnation’ is a fairy-tale in itself, featuring Pharrell and Cara travelling back in time to play an Austrian emperor and his beautiful queen. As a side plot to the story, acting royalty Geraldine Chaplin reprises her role as Coco Chanel. The film shows her initial reaction as she draws inspiration from Pharrell’s elevator attendant uniform for her very first line of jackets. Geraldine also played Coco Chanel in Lagerfeld’s 2012 short film, entitled ‘The Return’, so it’s a treat to see the consistencies here.
By the end of the film both Pharrell and Cara return to their housekeeping posts while the fairy-tale events were just a dream.
Speaking of fairytales, the annual Chanel Metiers d’Art show, taking place since 2002 has created quite a name for itself, these prestigious shows have become legendary & anticipated. This year’s collection showcased Lagerfeld’s pristine designs in an equally spectacular location. The collection was presented at the 18th century Schloss Leopoldskron, one of the most famous and historic castles in all of Austria.
Chanel’s ‘Paris-Salzburg Pre Fall 2015 collection signifies elaborate craftsmanship. With a regal palette of white, red, navy and black subtly blended with tones of alpine, this collection mixes colour with textures like feathers, leather, cashmere, lace and tweed.
